I would have told your girlfriend to find a new boyfriend. I may have left her cuffed to the bed and left.

I've been watching 'Norsemen' on Netflix lately. It's a Norwegian series, the international version of which was done in English, and it's very funny and very dark at the same time - sort of like if 'Vikings' was being written and directed by Mel Brooks' evil twin. The characters take rape very much for granted as just part of their daily lives; in fact the Viking warriors think of it as just part of their job. Yes, there are a lot of jokes surrounding the act in the show, and in that unreal context, where thing like slavery and casual murder are not taken seriously at all, I guess you could say that it's funny.

I am mostly interested in men's issues.

The stuff OP mentioned is sick. This stuff hurts both genders. It hurts women who are victims of abuse. It necessitates harsh Laws and practices which are brought on innocent as well as the guilty.

For millennia, Judaism and Christianity was against sin. When people turned away from Bible, Societal Collapse began.

I watched the movie Erik the Viking yesterday. I have been meaning to watch it since 1989. I finally got to it. That movie opens on this topic. Kind of the theme of the movie.

Safe...Sane...and Consensual....as i would say when i was all involved in the BDSM community in Houston.

There were more than a few women who were in control all the time that used those situations with a trusted partner (me) to relax and let go. It helped them keep in balance, so they said.

I could give specifics, but I won't. Trust is trust no matter how long ago it was given. Just generally they were in control all the time and enjoyed taking their fingers off the buttons for awhile.

If you don't find on screen rape scenes hard to watch, there's something wrong with you.

I wholeheartedly agree. I've stayed away from this thread b/c I've found it distasteful and disgusting. I saw Polly's name as having chimed in so I looked at her post b/c I figured I knew what her response would be. The entire subject of it being "normal" or exciting or worth watching is totally without any socially redeeming value.

There is a reason why forcible rape results in such lengthy prison sentences.
