    An interesting number.

    Hi!

Anyone take a look at the Dow Jones Industrial stock p/e ratio lately?

    Hi!

The Dow Jones Industrial value is a composite of a number of selected companies.

Yes. It's almost 30 and so is the S&P. Thats a 50% hike since last year. The number of capital units that will be introduced into the system combined with rates that will be low well into the future make this beyond interesting. I've dealt with the markets my entire life and have never seen anything quite like this.

I think they just changed out 10% of the companies. Exxon is gone. Honeywell is in...

A high p/e ratio, in my experience, indicates a high expectation of stock price appreciation. Given the present economic conditions and reasonable prognostications for the future, the p/e seems unusually high.

It is unusually high. There's just a large flow of money that hits consistently in the form of 401ks and other retirement/investment vehicles. The markets have changed a lot since I began in 1980. I remember the day the modern bull market started. It was 1982. The Dow was around 800, it was August and the volume was 25 million. Oh how far we have came .
Derivs, program trading based off of premium of fair value to the cash S&P hit the scene and it's been game on ever since ..passion I have much passion for it. Just talking about the markets has me smiling

Where else are you going to put it. Americans are on a roll and it is the only bet they have.

There aren't many places to put money. What's not going on the markets is chasing other asset classes like metals. I noticed tesla has a p/e of almost 1000. That's insane lol. This is going to go really well or end very badly. For a while you could chase equities for the yields but at these prices there isn't much yield. Certain REITS still have a bit. Interesting market. I'm not a bear but the level of complancey concerns me.

I have been more interested in the value of companies most of my life than the value of their stocks and at these levels they make no sense. I'm concerned but too chicken **** to pull out.
