Did the US Really Play a Role in UAE-Israel Deal?

While there is little gainsaying that the UAE-Israel deal will have some important implications for the Middle East, the wide-spread perception that the US played a direct role in facilitating this breakthrough appears to be a complete misreading of the process that actually produced this deal. While the US did have its own peace plan, known as the ‘deal of the century’, the actual deal is far from what the Trump administration had envisioned and proposed. On top of it is the fact that the UAE-Israel have a history of secret relations and that these were largely independent of the US or the Trump administration. Besides it, the UAE is not the only country Israel has established relations with, although it is to-date the only Gulf state that has recognized Israel. What it means is Israel has been working with several Gulf states for quite some time and that the deal with the UAE is a result of these secret relations, spanning over many years, if not many decades..........https://journal-neo.org/2020/08/24/d...e-israel-deal/

.....it sounds to be like the UAE has been the main driving force for normalization with Israel for many years , and now they have convinced the Israelis of the benefits of it.

I said from the time that the 'deal' was announced that I didn't believe that Trump had anything to do with it. The timing and benefits to Bibi and Israeli politics suggested otherwise, including the ability to award the credit to Trump and thereby increase Congressional support for Israel and give Trump a feather in his cap going into the election. Win, win, win.

Trump's decision not to cater to the far-left's capitulation to radical Islam, laid the groundwork for the UAE-Israel deal. While the UAE has been borderline-agreeable with Israel for years, now they saw the opportunity to move in that direction and they knew they'd garner US support in doing so.

Had Obama still been in office, it would never have happened because Obama sided with Islamic factions to Israel's detriment.

Trump brokered the deal, but more than that, it likely would not have happened under a liberal president.

Will it stick? That remains to be seen. If Biden is elected, we can likely expect the old angst to return to the Middle East as well as to Eastern Europe, but for now, we have peace, and that peace is worth celebrating. If Trump is reelected, I would not be surprised to see other Middle Eastern nations join in the effort.

I think it's a moot point. By funding Iran's nuclear weapon and terrorism programs the previous administration made sure all Muslim countries would support Democrat anti-Semitism. So, whether Washington helped or simply didn't stop it is a moot point.

Media in Gulf States Includes Positive Outlook on Administration’s Efforts

There are several examples of Gulf media showing positive or neutral coverage of the Trump administration’s role in the Israel–UAE deal. The Saudi Gazette published the UAE’s Ambassador to the U.S. Yousef Al Otaiba’s praise for the deal, where he thanked the “overwhelming support in the United States,” including from the “Trump White House and the Biden campaign” and “more than 140 members of Congress from both parties.” Kuwait’s Arab Times published an op-ed in which columnist Khalaf Al Habtoor stated, “I congratulate President Trump for making this happen.” The Kuwait Times reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu halted his push to apply sovereignty to Judea and Samaria (known to many as the “West Bank”) “as part of his pledge to Trump,” showing approval of President Trump’s role in the deal. The Times of Oman referenced President Trump’s tweet that the deal was a “historic peace agreement.” The Arab Times also published a video interview between David Schenker, Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs in the U.S. Department of State, with Kuwaiti Reconnaissance Research Founder and CEO Abdulaziz Al-Anjeri, in which Schenker discussed the recent deal......snip~

Jared Kushner, a senior advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump who was deeply involved in negotiating the UAE-Israel normalization agreement, said Thursday night that another country is likely to join the peace agreement in the coming days.

Looks like the Arabs and Israel say the Trump Administration was in on it. While Israel does give credit to Kushner. As does the UAE. Once again PJL and US leftists were wrong. Its not surprising. At Least PJL isnt suffering for TDS.
