    My cat yells at me!

One of my cats is 15 years old and still in great shape. But she has gotten really obnoxious and starts yelling at me when she wants something.

I am used to the 4 AM yelling to feed her. But this morning was a new level of annoying. She kept coming in and waking me up after she had been fed. I finally got up and she wanted to play!

She is waking me up at 5 AM on a Sunday BECAUSE SHE IS BORED!
I'm ditching tPF. This is nothing but a right wing crackpot troll farm.

I have an orange tiger tabby named Rutger who seems to think he's one of the dogs. When I let them out in the back yard, he yells - actually it's more like a loud squeak - to go out with them. If I won't let him sit in my lap, he yells. Sometimes he just sits and yells until I go pet him and ask him to hush up. He and his adopted brother, Mikey - the rescue put them together when they were tiny kittens - still cuddle and are inseparable companions. He's about 13 years old and when I begin to grow impatient with him, I stop and look at his sweet little face and imagine life without him.

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry

Your orange tabby looks just like mine. But mine doesn't yell at me. She's the quiet kitty.

    You need to arm yourself.

Keep a water pistol on the nightstand.

Okay you do not have to go that far but I always have a glass of water on the night stand anyways for my wife's herd of strays. But they come in and start raising hell to wake us up so I learned to dip my fingers in the water and just flick a few drops at them. They leave. Note, that I learned to not keep a full glass after waking up and finding out the cats were coming up for a drink.

But that would hurt her feelings... Then I end up having to pay for therapy.

Pay for her therapy or yours from lack of sleep. Since the owner of the pet is there during the therapy you can use the shrink's couch to take a nap and explain to her that you have been up since 4 AM. I actually should be out side sanding and refinishing some doors but I'm too tired from my dog getting me up this morning.

Well, she's old: she has demands. One of them is "pay attention to me".

At first I was worried she was distressed for some reason. But she checked out fine. When it got to be more than I could stand I would run her off. And she really does get her feelings hurt easily! LOL. She goes and pouts under the bed. But eventually I found that what worked far better was to reassure her that "I hear you and I love you! That and a quick hug usually calms her down. But this morning she wanted to play and dammit, I was not going to ignore her!!!!
