My argument against abortion is not in any way dependent on religion. Biology says from conception it's a unique living human being. The Declaration declares all men are created equal with unalienable rights. Hence, the unborn have equal rights.

I disagree. A lump of hairless biomass that looks like a Martian can't possibly have the same rights as those outside the womb. But you know what? I'm not going there because it's ridiculous. Moreover, by the woman's choice, it's not my problem anyway, which is insulting to the highest degree, but the whole point of the debate is to kick the hell out of men, and then kick them again next week.

OK, but that is not an argument against what I posted. It's the personhood argument that subjectively decides when to value human beings as human beings.

I don't know. As I said, I don't argue the matter from religion. I'm an agnostic atheist. So the best I can tell you is I don't know.

In the latest issue of Astronomy Magazine there is an editorial that ask "What is Life" The article begins "It's one of the oldest philosophical questions and one that only in recent times have we come to acceptable scientific terms with. The article defines life thus "Living organisms display seven distinct characteristics: homeostasis (regulation of their internal environment), organization into one or more cells, metabolism, growth, adaptation, response to stimuli, and reproduction"

We must ask the question if when single cell organisms are found on distant worlds they will be classified as "life forms" why are not humans in wombs afforded the same distinction?

Biologically, yes.

But we do not value them as much as we do human beings, er, at least some of us for some on the left devalue human beings with personhood arguments.
