    Southern Justice/Sippenhaft

What I refer to as Southern Justice is handing out justice to those who have harmed you in such a manner that no one ever tries it again.

When the great (at what he did) Reinhard Heydrich was murdered by the British-directed plan in Czechoslovakia in 1942, Hitler's response was so brutal that Britain backed off on similar attempts.

It is likely that neither the Czech government-in-exile nor the British SOE foresaw the possibility that the Germans would apply the principle of Sippenhaft (collective responsibility) on the scale they did in avenging Heydrich's assassination.

Sippenhaft is a German term for the idea that a family or clan shares the responsibility for a crime or act committed by one of its members, justifying collective punishment.

In Unforgiven, we see this response by Will Munny:

It is time we hit back at the rioters in a similar (Sippenhaft) fashion.

Heydrich was not "murdered". He was a legitimate military target. Killing him was a service to humanity.

That reminds me of an All in the Family that I saw, some time ago, in which Archie Bunker declared that his wife, Edith, ought to continue going to church, since the family needed at least one member representing it before God.

If we held the BLM community responsible for what one of its members do, perhaps we would make headway in the fight against them.
