    The NFL's other problems

With everything going on in 2020 and the whole knelling thing now endorsed by the NFL's Commish I had almost forgotten the deeper stuff.

In the 4th quarter of a close game in which my team was playing it hit me. The NFL has become boring. Maybe too much predictability? Maybe too much inconsistency in calling contact fouls in the passing game? Too much action between the 20's and not enough in the red zone? The overly conservative play calling? The huge skirts on the Quarter backs? It was all on display in that game and in others. The entertainment level ain't what it used to be even though more games come down to the wire or close.
But man do we have statistics! I heard last night that some QB, maybe Jones, had the most passes where the receiver was within a yard of a defender. Really? WTF?

Great observation. There is no character to the game anymore. It's all nice and uniform as mud. No players stand out against other players. They all look like video game computer generated players.

    Woopie.

It is a little more boring than it has been.

But what I find surprising is the lack of knees being taken.
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

I lost interest in the NFL in the mid-80's with the commercialization of the game. Have no plans on ever watching football again.

I have not watched,,,, I miss it, but I am not the only one that is making a stand

These numbers are certainly going to effect the payrolls of the teams.

It will be funny to hear the Woke whining when they take a several million dollar pat cut, It will take a long time to repair what they have willingly allowed to happen

They are converting it to "two hand touch" or flag football.

I started to lose interest when they over saturated the market. The season is too long. They have games on Sunday, Monday and Thursday. Sometimes on Saturday.

Players are too mobile too. Star players used to play for the same team for their career. Now players are transients.

Now we have fantasy football where people are fans of players and not teams.

They have made to off-season training camps and mini-camps newsworthy events. The NFL no longer leaves people wanting more.

Come to think of it there isn't even much mud anymore. Or dirty jerseys. I have always been an outdoors on grass guy. I also believe that certain injuries, including head injuries would be decreased on grass fields.

I think the big issue is that we used to like the players when they played football, chased girls and did Noxzema commercials.
Now I don't like most of the players. I'm not likely to buy anything they are selling and its supposed to be okay that they are chasing other men.

For one player they are. The QB. He can literally slide while the defender in committed and draw a flag. I often wonder what Montana or Marino would of done under these rules? And how long they may have played? I get protecting a defenseless player and I have never liked the deliberate head butting. What's the message there? "I'm so damned tough I don't need a functioning brain?" Pretty sure the leather helmet era didn't have that problem.
But today's quarterbacks are in a very real sense NOT FB players.
