I'm guessing that there was polling done to find out how many people avoid CB because there is no wine/beer. Similarly, I'm sure they want to know how many people would refuse to come solely because there is wine/beer on the menu.

There's big money to be made on beer/wine. Probably not as much as soda, but I would love to see the polling data.

'Cracker' Barrel has a history of settling lawsuits for racial discrimination in both hiring/promotions, and customers. Kinda funny with a name like 'Cracker'.

A few years ago, they refused service to Chris Rock's mother. Wrong person to mess with.

Before I was aware of their checkered past, I wondered why I saw this sign at the entrance in a Ct. store

I think a perceived issue with beer/wine is the least of their problems.

They are next to a lot of hotels on the Interstate exits. I can see the addition of wine making it an easier choice for the hotel guests. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy with a couple of glasses of cab will certainly do for dinner on a winters night.
The alcohol might make that little jump the golf tees game they put on the table just a little more difficult.

I wonder what increased liability they'll take on by offering alcohol to their patrons?

Its a statistical fact that after several bottles of beer the tips get higher!

Only to point out that some fast food does serve beer.

My initial reaction was to say it isn't really part of their business model, then I remembered the Euro's Burger King that had beer on tap.

The profit margin on alcohol sales are much higher than food or soda.

When they get the alcohol license their insurance will go up. How much? I don't know.
