    Hunting with Spears

***Warning videos contain images of hunting and of dying animals***

So I'm all scheduled up for hog hunting in mid-October. Oklahoma.

Gonna take my Winchester 30.06 Featherweight as my main and my Daniels Defense SPR 5.56MM as a last resort back up. Plus they have a 500 yard range there and I can't wait to show these boys what that SPR can do with that Vortex scope on it at 500 yards. They've never seen a quarter grouping from an AR at that range.

So in my excitement I...like any other red blooded American man excited about a hunt...have been looking up hog hunts and such. I came across spear hunting. There are a few guys out there but one stands out above the rest.

    'Tim Wells, Bow Hunter'.

Now for all you anti-hunter people out there that claim that humans have such an amazing advantage and that they should be on the same level as the animals? Well here is a guy that killed a black bear....with a blow gun...

Here is a guy that killed a Grizzly...with a spear...

Now before you go all crazy keep in mind that the spear is actually more deadly and quick and thus more humane than even a bullet. Watch the video (warning graffic) for proof.

I had to post this because this guy is both humble and completly legit.

What was the bear doing to him that forced him to kill it?

Let me guess... NOTHING. The guy was just some $#@! who wanted to prove how much of a "man" he is.

Correct. Anyway do you think more hunters should be forced to use spears given they are in actuality more humane despite being infinately harder?

Not sure about launching spears Pickle; while I'm not a hunter (I cannot kill an animal who's not trying to kill me) I guess they could always toss my mother-in-law's meatloaf at the animal they are hunting; guaranteed to kill anything that eats it.

Most of humanity knows there are better weapons.
Not gonna lie, I like bear meat..Very good.
If I killed one, I'd eat it.
    Them's the rules anyways.

I have no use for sport hunters or sport hunting. Killing for the sake of killing is wrong whether it's an animal or a human.

If one must kill to eat, that's a different story, but even then, the hunter should strive to make the death as quick and painless as possible.

Hunting with spears make a person...well...no more evolved than a caveman, I suppose.

This is my one and only post on this thread as I view the subject as being beneath me.

I dislike sport hunting. But the spear idea is a great option for preppers. If the SHTF why not? Especially if you live in hog country.

I am okay with spear fishing and using a bow while fishing.

Of course if I had to have fish for survival I am not against using a quarter stick of dynamite.

It will be a very long time before I take on something the size of my SUV with claws and teeth with a spear.

Our stone aged ancestors did that, but they went in groups and had dogs for help.

Just me, with no dogs or another dozen comrades ???...Nope...not in this lifetime.

But then again, I already know i an a man and do not have to prove it in any way to anyone.
I am very secure in my manhood.

So secure I can do some things others might consider "unmanly", and don't care what they think.

My five (5) cats hanging around the homestead prove it.

...that is if you don't get gored by any one or a dozen of them, you will be fine.

I made a couple cool spears and have them in the man cave, but when I want hog meat I will use my 45/70 RemLin.
There is a very good reason mankind advanced beyond spears for hunting.
