How to Counter the Chinese Communist Party

How to Counter the Chinese Communist Party

The article argues that the free exchange of info and ideas is the way to counter the CCP. Not sure we can get around the CCP to get that for the Chinese people. But the book is written by the Neocon McMaster.

    T
he CCP views freedom of expression as a weakness to be suppressed at home and exploited abroad. The free exchange of information and ideas, however, may be the greatest competitive advantage of our societies. We have to defend against Chinese agencies that coordinate influence operations abroad — such as the Ministry of State Security, the United Front Work Department, and the Chinese Students and Scholars Association — but we should also try to maximize positive interactions and experiences with the Chinese people. Those who visit and interact with citizens of free countries are most likely to go home and question the party’s policies, especially those that stifle freedom of expression. So, the people who direct academic exchanges or are responsible for Chinese student experiences should ensure that those students enjoy the same freedom of thought and expression as other students. That means adopting a zero-tolerance attitude for CCP agents who monitor and intimidate students and their families back home.

Foreign students at universities abroad, regardless of their country of origin, should gain an appreciation for the host nation’s history and form of governance. When universities and other hosting bodies protect the freedoms that these students should enjoy, it serves to counter the propaganda and censorship to which the students are subjected in their home country. Perhaps most important, Chinese and other foreign students should be fully integrated into student bodies, to ensure they have the most positive academic and social experience.
Well the problem is that the CCP forces Chinese students to spy for them as a condition to letting them go to the West for education.

That's a complete misconception. Australia is (I think) the most popular destination for Chinese students , and the majority of them come from wealthy families....I mean extremely wealthy families . There was a trend a few years back , before Aus tightened up the property ownership laws , where Chinese students were buying up very expensive mansions in Australia , to live in , while they attended Uni ......and they put the property market on steroids for quite a few years.

Actually , Australia has developed quite a lot of valuable tech , but we tend to release it straight away to the global players to maximise the business prospects....wi-fi , for instance , is an Aussie development that has had significant global impact , both commercially and militarily . The Australian consumer market is far too small to take full advantage of such things . Other notable Australian development are ultrasound , now used globally in the medical field......the black-box flight recorder system......the torpedo.......the army tank......rooftop solar hot water systems...atomic absorption spectrophotometer.......the orbital engine.......the Jindalee radar system.........cervical cancer vaccine........the scramjet.......the bionic ear ......the list goes on......the concrete agitator truck
