Okay but take NYC as an example.
They do not produce anything. It is just where many of the Corporate Headquarters are. They could close down and move those offices in a week to anywhere in the country with little need for infrastructure.

At least Silicon Valley actually produces a product that deserves some of their numbers but not many iphones are made there except for prototypes.

I think you have to look at more than production. San Antonio is a minor producer but big in trade and technology.

Be interesting to see the change. What is the date of the 3d original. I made a cursory look but didn't see a date.

OH YES it will be interesting to see the change for just the first 9 months of this year. The chart is dated from 2018....before NY's irresponsible covid policies and the Terrorist riots.

    LEt's see it now.

I don't see it that way. The corporate headquarters is a cash benefit paid to the officers. They no longer need to be based in NYC for services. They make nothing there. It is just an elitist orgy location.
We have an office here too Wall Street. Technology has wiped out any need for that. You don't need to walk to your accountant and bank. In fact they have not done that for more than half this year.

It is economic output. NYC is currently the financial capital of the nation.

Not sure then. But something has to account for NY's generation of wealth. Perhaps it is moveable and businesses will locate elsewhere.

The data is from 2018, true. Covid19 has likely changed that but it may take a couple years to gather the data.
