    How Long It Would Take A Hacker To Guess Your Password

    Public service announcement: How Long It Would Take A Hacker To Guess Your Password

    As the chart makes plain, for certain passwords, breaking into your account would be pretty much instantaneous. But the longer your password is, and the wider the variety of characters you use, the longer it'll take, to the point that you really don't need to worry about the security of your accounts. (Unless there's a data leak, but that's another story.)

    Thanks. It made me think.
    My casual password for something like this site is actually more difficult to hack that my Amazon or credit card stored accounts. I'll have to fix that.

    I'm still thinking the old way of those that would not be guessed instead of a computerized random attack. More characters are betters.

    There's password generators, but impossible to remember.

    My trick is to pick a song with a long, many worded title. Movie, book, whatever. Take first letter of each word. Then play with substituting letters for numbers and symbols and missing case. The title serves as mnemonic.

    I use one of several number combinations that relate to stuff I did in the past, and then add on a special combination of special characters and a Capital letter.

    Easy to remember.

    My IT guy set us up with an administrator password that was lines from a kids song. I automatically start spacing and capitalizing when I go to use it. it's about 10 words. We changed it.

    Or to really take 'em out back behind the dumpster and kick their ass, Biden style:

    )*(-u89nmKJ_9*}{+_09o[-POikPOKJI([-[09(=-90+pk098(}]-p'p[kpkPKi0)i9pIp()8)_9=-ikpk'o[pip[

    It takes about an hour but it's pretty secure..

    Mnemonic has to work for you. IT admin's password won't do.
