    Why not in public? Public executions have been a thing for centuries -- so there's nothing "unusual" about it. Nothing in the amendment guarantees a private death.

    The difference is the Constitution... The idea being is that society is better than a pedophile... Even a bullet to the head would be considered cruel and unusual...

    Well the last public execution occurred in 1935 and turned into a carnival. The legislators of Kentucky were so embarrassed by 20,000 people showing up for a hanging they banned the practice. All States followed suit.
