I have been learning how to administer and score a certain psychological test, and for extra credit, I get to take it and malinger. So, I received my "diagnosis" this morning and now I have to go take a 2-hour test and fake the symptoms without setting off the 12 internal validity scales (which basically always catches lying, image management, inconsistencies, and malingering unless you know the scales extremely well). I get the extra credit if I am successful at malingering my disorder without setting off the validity scales.
There is no way to know what item numbers match up with what because there is no list and many questions are correlated to multiple scales that measure everything from depression to marital distress and psychopathic deviancy (120+ scales). So, I have to know based on what I have learned what each question could potentially be linked to.
I'm so excited. I get to do this with two other formal assessments this semester. What a fantastic way to learn this. I'm off to go malinger!
