True, but that is difficult because fascism took many forms in Italy, Germany, Spain, and other places, each somewhat unique to the time and place. Common threads among them would be a rejection of modernism including liberalism, democracy, and capitalism. and a belief that everything is subservient to the state and in central planning. The problem is that in the 1930s, that also describes communism. But there we can distinguish the two in one being nationalistic and the other cosmopolitan. A further problem is that at that time, FDR and some in his administration admired fascism and communism for their central planning, an admiration that was mutual.
Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler

It's cute that you believe anyone thinks you are sly and well read because you make that reference.
It's like Machiavelli's The Prince in that regard.

That ideology is what drives the thinking. They wont exactly quote the ideology, but they will speak it's language.

So you agree you use these terms mindlessly. Fascinating.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

    War is peace.

    Freedom is slavery.

    Ignorance is strength.

History has given us a very vivid and thorough picture of who and what can and should be labeled "Nazi". The word may be overused, but doesn't mean there are not times when it is not only appropriate, but may be the most accurate and succinct way to describe a person or an ideal.
Most of the time I've seen those terms used......especially on this forum...….the authors wouldn't know a racist T Rex if one crawled up their ass and filmed the next Jurassic Park movie. Perhaps there are those who would recognize it when they see it...but they don't post on tpf.

Who was the SCOTUS jurist when commenting on an obscenity case that he couldn’t define it but he knew when he saw it?
One can be sure that he who says he knows knows nothing
