AG Barr:‘Separation of Church and State Does Not Mean Separation of Religion & Civics

At the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday, a virtual, online event, that the “separation of church and state does not mean separation of religion and civics," and added that "militant secularists" had used the "separation" claim to try to "drive religion from the public square.”

The attorney general further said that America's cultural degeneration stemmed from a loss of “traditional morality,” and stressed that religion is the “strongest bulwark against tyranny.”

But that's exactly what it means.

It is not the role of government to enforce anyone's religiously based view of morality on the general public by statute or regulation. Such was done pretty routinely throughout American history for more than two centuries, but that time is over. Citizens who have religious convictions about various issues have as much right as any other to express their beliefs in the public square, but not to use the power of the State to punish or reward based on compliance with their doctrines.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry

Religion in the public square only goes as far as those who want to participate. It doesn't mean than any religion or one group gets a louder megaphone than anybody else. The separation of state (laws) and religion is very clear and defined. Read your American history and it where it comes from. The Irish just got done fighting it (state -with- religion) not too long ago: the Irish finally won.

And those that do not have a religion do not have a right to silence those that do believe even in the public arena.

There is NO separation clause in the Constitution The constitution can't indorse a religion Any religion but it can't infringe the practice of one either. Providing said practice does not infringe on the rights of others.

Hmmmm, if you wish to understand American history, you have to be familiar with European history!

So, "why do we separate religion from law?"

I was not aware that we did, as a matter of fact most of our laws are based on Christian values
