It's all about what product you want. I watch football to be entertained and as an escape, not to hear about whatever pet issue the athletes want to push. Do that on your own time. Disrespecting the country while they do it only makes it worse.

Actually, I made a point of watching the beginning of the Browns / Ravens and Browns / Bengals games. I found neither distracting or interfering. If I recall correctly, in one game there was a smattering of kneelers, but they appeared respectful in doing so. The other, I didn't see any kneeling. I saw no other displays. I have said many times that I disagree with it but I don't own the team, I didn't negotiate the CBA and I don't have a say - other than to turn it off. I was prepared to do so if I was offended. I was not. Personally, what I saw I thought was a respectful unobtrusive attempt by the kneelers to demonstrate their viewpoint. Others feel differently, that's their right as well.
