Well, your OP refers to 18 retailers so I wasn't considering restaurants. Five of these retailers have filing dates between January and March 2020 - before the lockdowns. Of the remaining retailers, all were in critical financial shape prior to the pandemic with high debt loads, liquidity issues and declining sales. It's unlikely most of these retailers would have survived 2020 even without the lockdowns. Many had already started closing stores in 2019. Perhaps you are correct about retailers. I am focused on the big picture and have been periodically posting threads about bankruptcies and about the rent disaster coming.
The article also focuses on Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which is reorganization. So they won't be going away- yet. That will be Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
