Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.
Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

Saw last night that Jay Johnstone had passed away at 74. Reliable Major League outfielder for a number of teams in the '60s, '70s and '80s; went to the World Series with the Dodgers and Yankees. Known for his wacky sense of humor, he wrote a funny book called 'Temporary Insanity'.
“Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard
"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry
I know. I remembered him myself at some point in the last year and a half but failed to look him up on line. I thought maybe he had passed away already. bet he was making lots of money off royalties i hope. He seemed like a nice guy.

Perhaps best known for the songs he wrote for Elvis Presley, the Lubbock, Texas, native will be remembered for hits like "In the Ghetto," "A Little Less Conversation," "Don't Cry, Daddy" and "Memories."
According to IMDb, Presley needed a moment after reading through "Don't Cry, Daddy."
"'Don't Cry Daddy' is a pretty sad song," Davis said. "He got to the end of it and it was just real quiet and Elvis says, 'I'm gonna cut that someday for my daddy.' And, by God, he did. He lived up to his word."
"Baby Don’t Get Hooked on Me," "Stop and Smell the Roses," "It’s Hard to Be Humble" and "I Never Made Love (Till I Made it with You)" were other songs he is well-known for, published under his own name.
