My favourite tree is the Jacaranda tree. My parents have a massive Jacaranda tree in their front yard and when its in full bloom its really beautiful. Then it drops its purple flowers which blanket the ground which is also beautiful. I dont think there is another Jacaranda tree in the town I grew up in either so when it does bloom once a year its almost as if it is saying to you that it is the most beautiful thing here - and its right. Even when it is not in bloom I think it is a nice looking tree - I like the leaves because they remind me of leaves that might grow on a tree in a childrens dinosaur picture book.
I do have some photos of my parents Jacaranda tree but they are not on this computer but -

My second favourite tree is the Kurrajong tree. I actually own a Kurrajong tree/bottle tree because I bought a block of land recently and it has a very nice one on it. I think that a nice Kurrajong tree is a very clean looking tree. My Kurrajong tree has a nice straight light grey trunk with the green tinge they get - and the trunk has a slight bottle to it - it has the nice dark green Kurrajong leaves and its pretty big. Im no Kurrajong tree expert but the ones with the big fat bottle trunk are ugly - mine is the good type.
Another tree that I own is a Peppercorn tree. There are a lot of Peppercorn trees in the area I live and I have always thought that they are the ugliest trees. They always have the ugliest gangly looking trunks and the branches always seem to grow in a gangled kind of way. And I hate the way the leaves hang. I guess I will just have to learn to like it. Maybe trim it a bit and grow something around the trunk maybe.
I have a few other small trees but I dont know what kind they are - the two worth mentioning are the Kurrajong and Peppercorn trees. Its a decent size block so I want to plant a heap of trees on it and I have been thinking about what kind. A Jacaranda tree takes a pretty long time to mature but apparently one that is planted from cuttings can bloom in 5-7 years which isnt too bad I guess so I will probably plant at least one of them. But I want fast growing trees so I have been thinking about going with some Eucalyptus because they are native and they grow really fast. I also like them.
Do you like trees? Do you have a favourite tree?
What would you plant for a feature tree?
Got any ideas for fence line trees that suit a dry area?
