I don't see how coronavirus would keep farm labor from working in the outdoors. They're setting up for artificial shortages. That's all there is to it.

Right. The COVID isn't the problem. The draconian lockdowns are the problem.

Even the UN is warning of this. The coming shortages are not from the COVID, but rather the draconian lockdowns.

Waddaya think, Peter? Should we both order another case of MREs?

To my chagrin I just found out IODIZED salt only has a 5 year shelf life, so I had to order the regular stuff.

I don't think IODIZED salt really expires if stored properly. Products have to list a date to make the FDA happy.

I would consider MREs. Currently my SHTF stash is 25 year life dehydrated meals. MREs would be a good supplement as they don't require water to eat.

The MREs have another advantage you don't get with freeze dried food.

    You also get...

    a drink
    a spoon
a pack to heat it up in
some kind of bread or cracker
    toilet paper
    chewing gum
    coffee
    a desert
    a snack
    salt, pepper, sugar
    matches
    a napkin
    ect...

With the freeze dried stuff all you get is the entre'.

The one I ate two weeks ago had two medium sized Tootsie Rolls in it....nice!
The package said TOFFEE ROLLS, but when I opened it, there were two Tootsie rolls in the Tootsie roll packaging. Imagine my surprise!

Don't get me wrong, I have the freeze dried stuff too for long term. It beats eating "Fluffy" if things get really bad.

I have also been finding GHEE on the shelves too. Actual butter that does not require refrigeration because they took all the milkfat out of it.

My freeze dried stuff comes separated into different meals and course, even dessert. But yes, not the other add-ons although those are easy to store as well.

The military tries to not use trade names like Tootsie Roll. They have some god-awful name for Velcro. Something like hook and loop system.
