Nonsense. They opposed the war and thus the draft.

The US was relatively restrained un Vietnam. Much more so than in WW2.

They still shouted down or blew up anyone who didn't agree with them. As for burning their draft cards (very few actually did) they did so because they supported the totalitarian North Vietnamese regime (along with Chairman Mao and Fidel Castro)

They wanted to avoid the draft. When the draft was eliminated, the protests stopped.

Now they look the other way with FISA Court and FBI abuse. That is a different left indeed!

Sadly the New Left is extremely Totalitarian.

I belong to Old Left. In 1960s, Liberals fought for Free Speech and burned their draft cards.

And the civil rights act and women's suffrage; don't forget those.

The new left is stamping out racism and the economic gap and will soon be focused on bringing back a strong labor movement again.
