One thing I feel That's overlooked when it comes to nk is I don't look at them as a real threat to America.
We do have systems that can intercept ICBMs and nk has not got the capability to do so.

NK would proliferate the weaponry and technology to a US enemy more my concern. NK selling the technology to Iran via China or to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan an example where much of our forum ask 'why is it in US security interests what happens in Afghanistan.' A Taliban government in Afghanistan further destabilizes nuclear capable Pakistan...that should be of US concern and directly concerns nuclear capable neighbor and Pakistan's adversary India. Pakistan has its' own serious issues concerning terrorism including the Taliban who have many allies within Pakistan. The reality of an extremist Taliban-like government in nuclear Pakistan doesn't sit well with the US or especially India and I believe India would act to prevent that.

We should help. First by denying a Taliban government in Afghanistan. We'll not prevent the Taliban from having political influence, but we cannot tolerate a Taliban governed Afghanistan actively working to destabilize nuclear Pakistan. Cannot happen. Secondly, arming the Indians to the f'n teeth.

It is not a concern of the US if the Taliban rules Afghanistan so long as they do not harbor transnational terrorists.

Also, if the Afghan people wanted a non-Afghan government, they would have a stable non-Afghan government by now.
