    Media: Enemy of the People

MSM and Social Media (Facebook, Twitter) decide what the American public should see and they censor anything they deem unfit. Any and all unproven or proven bad things about Trump are fine. But proven stories about Joe and Hunter Biden are censored from the public. MSM, Twitter, and Facebook controllers think you are stupid and won't notice. ... well...

I heard that yesterday evening. Yes, what these platforms are doing likely breaks many laws. Congress has called the head Twit to a hearing where they will be discussing removing the legal protections for social media.

Currently section 230 of the Communications Decency Act states that social media are merely content providers and are immune from lawsuits related to content. However social media is no longer acting like mere content providers. They are acting like publishers. Section 230 should be removed from the law.

Twitter did a 180-degree turn last night and will now allow the story. They must have gotten some intense feedback.

"Over the last 24 hours, we've received significant feedback (from critical to supportive) about how we enforced our Hacked Materials Policy yesterday. After reflecting on this feedback, we have decided to make changes to the policy and how we enforce it," Gadde wrote.

As long as Facebook and Twitter are considered "non press" companies, I don't care so much--although Twitter just reversed their position and I kind of think Facebook will follow. What I do care about are media outlets that operate under protection of the first amendment--CNN, CBS, etc.

What's at question right now with Facebook is the purpose and legitimacy of Section 230, which protects social media outlets from lawsuits. It was intended to allow free speech across the internet, but it's not working out that way.

Section 230 has critics on both sides of the aisle. Democrats and Republicans generally agree that social media platforms should be held more accountable for how they police content, and they've introduced a number of bills, none of which have gained traction on Capitol Hill.

I'm guessing rules will eventually tighten and it will affect not only what Facebook does but also what happens here on this forum. I wish we could monitor ourselves but allowing Facebook and Twitter to get away with their lopsided censorship can't go on.

As far as the big media outlets -- CNN and so on -- they have work-arounds in place that protect them even past their 1st Amendment protections. For example, they allow "contributors" to write Op-Eds (those contributors are paid handsomely by outside sources), and since CNN doesn't have them on-staff, those contributors are free to say all manner of falsehood--under the guise of it being just "their opinion." They're sneaky $#@!s to be sure.

CNN hasn't breathed a word about the Hunter Biden story - not a word.

Twitter Blocked a Government Website to Protect Biden.....

Despite the backlash and Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans warning Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey that they plan to issue a subpoena for an emergency testimony, the company did not back down and went as far as blocking users from sharing a government website.

The Republican House Judiciary Committee decided to put the story on their website so that Americans could continue to freely read and access the report.
“Twitter has blocked users from tweeting the link to the @nypost’s story on Hunter Biden. So we put it on our website for you to read and share,” the House Judiciary GOP tweeted.

But some users continued to have trouble when attempting to open the link, receiving a “Warning: this link may be unsafe” message.
The House Judiciary GOP did not give up, however. Rep. Jim Jordan sent a letter to Dorsey that contained the email within it and wondered if Twitter would continue to censor a government website. Finally, Twitter relented and said the blocking was done “in error.”

Needless to say, the Committee found that excuse hard to believe.

Twitter appears to return to normal after interruption in service

Twitter appeared to have gone down Thursday evening across the country.

Users complained that they lost use of the social media platform.

Around 7 p.m., it seemed that some of the website's features were working for certain users. At around 7:15 p.m., service on the app had appeared to have returned to normal.

The platform's support team tweeted at 7:16 p.m., "Twitter has been down for many of you and we’re working to get it back up and running for everyone. We had some trouble with our internal systems and don’t have any evidence of a security breach or hack."

The Washington Examiner reached out to Twitter for more information on the issue. Trenton Kennedy, a communications official for the company, responded at 6:00 p.m., "We'll come back to you." .....snip~

LMAO....Internal systems problem. Sure ya were. Now let Right leaning techies take Twitter down until after the election. Leave them the message you will not be able to operate until after the election.
