I play at it but not that good. I have had a cardinal and a Pilated Wood Pecker this year and once in a great while spot an Eagle. Hawks own the roads around here because of the huge field of vision and lack of trees around the roads. I'll probably feed again this winter even though it caused a Chipmunk invasion this spring.

They claim it's necessary in order to be able to turn them loose in the wild.

I've seen falconry shows in person where a guy calls to a bird that we didn't even know was sitting way up in a tree. After 9/11, it was common to end the Anthem with an eagle flying in from the upper level of the stadium before a baseball game.

My daughter used to do that with raptors, she worked with a Harris Hawk, they did shows at the Arizona/Sonora Desert Museum. I have some really cool pictures.

Real interested in what folks are using for observation.

    Cameras? Spotting scopes? Binoculars?

That's another thing my bird feeder drew in earlier this year as many as 6 greedy Blue Jays plus chipmunks and squirrels. I was temoted to get one of those squirrel flinging bird feeders but they are a little pricing. It would be hours of redneck entertainment though.
