Any birdwatchers here?

I love watching birds. Here, qe have Thrushes, Cardinals, Cactus Wrens, Roadrunners, and lots of Doves. The other day we spotted an unusual color, Ll white with a couple of gray spots, the only one like it I've seen. The other day, there were 4 Hawks in a tree, we needed the binoculars to get a closer look, it was probably a mated pair and, 2 offspring .

My other place, Orioles, Chickadees, Grosbeak, Blue Jays, Ravens, Hawks, Eagles, an occasional Perrigrine Falcon, at night, you can hear the Owls.

It seems I'm always spotting a new bird and, have to go get the book.

I love Roadrunners. There's a pair that hang out around the house.

I know out west, your jays are much more colorful than our blue jays.

I've seen jays around here a few times "get even" with some of the cats, by diving and ramming that longer beak right up their butts. You oughtta' see the cats jump. OUCH!

Starlings are indeed a pain. They nest in any area with a hole for an entrance. Given that wrens will nest in anything with a hole as well, that makes sense. I was once lucky enough to stumble across this flicker nest. It's also common for starlings to steal nesting sites from flickers. I got an interesting series of pix at this nest.

I get a kick out of seeing Blue Jays around here get "revenge" on some of the cats. Sometimes that dive and zoom in on a cat that's been bothering them, and ram them in the butt with that big beak, and you ought to see the cats jump. OUCH!!!

That's another thing my bird feeder drew in earlier this year as many as 6 greedy Blue Jays plus chipmunks and squirrels. I was temoted to get one of those squirrel flinging bird feeders but they are a little pricing. It would be hours of redneck entertainment though.
