Pretty poor turn out this winter at the feeder. Blue Jays, sparrows, maybe a junco or two and of course Chickadees. I'm not really sure what else is here in the winter maybe Nuthatch?

I moved to Lansing KS a couple of years ago, and me and a few other seniors pick up lunch during the week days and go down to the Leavenworth Landing and sit by the Missouri river to eat and watch the birds. We get to see eagles almost daily, hawks, and many others almost all the time. I love watching the eagles when they fly and just gliiiide across the sky---they're BEAUTIFUL.
I used to be a volunteer at Operation Wild Life rehabbing injured/orphaned wildlife, and giving education programs at fairs, school, anybody who was interesting in paying for us to be at their events... It was so much fun, especially at schools---kids have so many questions, curiosity and eagerness.

We have all of those and Screech Owls too. It used to be SOOO funny when we'd do the education programs. We'd set up the screech owls (which are only about 8" to 10" tall) setting on the table in front of us. For some reason after we'd get them out of the cages and tethered to the table, they would always have their backs to the audience area. They wouldn't even turn around, usually, as people filed in. But, as we'd be talking about other birds and animals, before we got to them, inevitably, someone would sneeze, cough, or something loudly, and all of a sudden their heads would swivel around to the audience, the neck/heads would stretch tall, and several in the audience would gasp, or kind of scream in surprise, and we'd hear people say "I thought they were stuffed birds?" The staff would be laughing and giggling....
Out here the screech owls are brown or red. At O.W.L. we had one of each. They're soooo cute, partly their size makes 'em kinda' cute ;o)
