I admired the man, not because of his ties to slavery, but because of his prowess on the battlefield and his business acumen. The war of course ruined him financially but he was able to restore his wealth in a short period of time by building railroads. Although he had no military background what so ever he quickly became one of the most successful generals on either side.

I added the 45 at the end of the name because apparently there were 44 others using the same name in the system.
He also started a social club of sorts.

No he didn't. His name was used in conjunction with the Klan but he never was involved. As you should know, during reconstruction the Klan was considered an enemy by the Northern States. Therefore Forrest was investigated by Congress for his alleged connection but no evidence was ever found that he was in anyway involved. He had even written editorials calling for the Klan to be banned.

Just one more of those "fake news" stories put out by the New York Times.

Carolina73 is just because after 9 moves zigzagging south, I finally found my home in South Carolina. The weather is great. The people are great. The college sports are great. The food, not so much.

The 73 means nothing. I think it popped up as a open option somewhere when Carolina was taken.

Chose Sunsettommy, because I used to drive out to a dark site out of city, to set up the 25" F5 Telescope, then sit down to watch the red/orange Sunset slowly turn into dark sky. Thomas is my first name.

It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. The first time my son-in-law took me sailing we almost got rammed.

The second time, we broke the rudder and had to get towed in.

The third time we almost sank.

    He sold the boat.

I used "cotton" for two reasons. When I was in commodity brokerage I specialized in trading , hedging of Cotton. Its also a tribute to "the land of Cotton" where I grew up
