America would not benefit in any conceivable way.

The US would be a lot freer and a lot more relaxed. American made would be the thing with good union jobs so that home ownership would Regenerate a strong middle class with good and well funded education and healthcare. Think FDR and the rise of the middle class. Gas would be cheaper due to electric cars and solar power would make utilizes cheaper. Taxes would be a bit higher, but there’d be a lot more bang for your buck.

All of that sounds good. The trouble is that when I see the crew in charge of the Democratic Party I have zero faith they could pull it off without totally screwing it up and creating a dystopia instead.

The Democratic party is easy to run when everybody starts barking their orders, no pun intended. That's why global warming and racism and the earnings gap, and "Greenism" are all things that the Democrats are pushing. It worked for the country when FDR did it, when Johnson did it and it'll work again. We just have to make them do it.

I think that conservatives: think Colin Powell, George Will et al need to take over the Republican party and "excommunicate" all those far right-wing idiots who have sunk your Titanic. I'm, all for a decent measured conservative balance: who wouldn't be? But it just doesn't seem likely with people like Mitch Mcconnell running the show.
