I was great at designing destructive play experiences for children when I was a childcare worker. It was my specialty. Destructive play does not need to be 'rough and tumble' but yeah there is no need to get hysterical about children engaging in it like a lot of people do because its completely normal/natural. Before we were civilized - when we were cavemen or whatever - 'rough and tumble' play would have been even more important in relation to physical development and it would have also had a lot to do with determining pecking order. And exactly - how do we expect 5/6 year olds to sit still when they move from pre-school to regular school? Its ridiculous. Even if I could prevent a high energy kid from being drugged as a pre-schooler I knew that when they went to school the next year that they would be. There is a disconnect between an early childhood environment and a school environment. The Montessori influence on modern childcare which encourages freedom of choice ( within limits ) makes the transition to school a shock for many children - especially the high energy ones. And the pressure of ensuring school readiness for pre-schoolers forces early childhood workers to go against what they know to be right so the kids are ready to enter this %$%$ed up environment that is the school setting. If I had kids and could afford it I would put them in a Montessori school if there was one in my area.

But yeah - if a kid is not domesticated by the age of four kids will reject them and worse - adults will not treat them properly - even childcare workers because most childcare workers are dumb low paid morons that dont give a %$%$. The other thing is in a lot of places like Australia the early childhood centres and schools are incentivized to put a label on disruptive children so that the state will pay for special needs workers to deal with them. You can waffle on all you like about the integrity of those giving the official diagnosis of adhd or autism or whatever it is but at the end of the day if an early childhood place bans a kid from their preschool or whatever because they cannot manage their behaviour - due to them being lazy or incompetent- this is going to lead to some kind of diagnosis and the child being medicated.

Drugging is to make it easy for the teacher.
Kids mature and learn at different ages and then there is a difference in a 5 year old that is born on January first and starts school in the following year compared to the kid born on Dec 31st who ends up in the previous grade.
I was always odd meeting kids years later that my kids played soccer with. The kids that stood on the field watching butterflies and never once kicked the ball turned out just fine without drugs. They just needed more time.

They don't go that deep. A lot of it is basic social skills many people missed out on growing up in single mother homes and in gangs.
