    That settles it then....evolution. So. how long before we can expect to see our first fully functioning and formed human?

    The various organisms will change over time but life itself will continue as long as there is water and some plant life in the jar.

    Exactly. And I think that is what the video was saying: not that life was created in that jar, but rather that it "came alive" with time.

    When I was in high school I pulled up some grass from my front yard, put it in a jar and did much the same as this video. Within a few days it was full of paramecium and amoeba. Soon there were other life forms swimming about and finally the mosquito larvae came to life. Much was lying dormant in the grass, waiting for enough water to revive. I gave the jar to my science teacher and for all I know it is still going 60 years later.

    Really cool stuff. My myriad hobbies include the Alpha and Omega of sight, telescopes to study the vast heavens and microscopes for the never ending life around us.
