Would Space X even exist if not for NASA infrastructure it has been able to take advantage of? The American taxpayer may not be getting much out of Space X but what have they gotten out of NASA? Apart from Tang? But yeah - space mining can be sold to environmentalists probably. And that can be used as excuse to get taxpayers to pay for infrastructure that would make space mining easier. But why should the American taxpayer foot the bill themselves? I can buy Tang in Australia and none of my tax dollars have ever gone to NASA as far as I know. World Government could solve all of this. We could tax every global citizen in the name of space mining. And environmentalism. And whatnot.

How do you know World Government wont be privately owned? Maybe citizens will pay fees rather than taxes.

NASA spinoff technologies are commercial products and services which have been developed with the help of NASA, through research and development contracts, such as Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or STTR awards, licensing of NASA patents, use of NASA facilities, technical assistance from NASA personnel, or data from NASA research. Information on new NASA technology that may be useful to industry is available in periodical and website form in "NASA Tech Briefs", while successful examples of commercialization are reported

The egg-head economists estimated a return of investment on the Apollo program at 26:1. To compare the return on investment for welfare programs is around 0.64:1.

Not likely. More like a few or several competing corporations.

    NASA didnt invent Tang?

Still. Like I said - the American taxpayer is footing the bill for important things like space blankets that the entire global community benefits from. Its hardly fair. I mean Jesus Christ - Speedo isnt even an American company is it?

You know - I wrote a joke thread about space blankets a few years ago. It was hilarious. I havent seen one since. Its weird. You used to see them everywhere. If you saw something on the news and space blankets were being handed out you knew it was serious. Kind of like an announcement accompanied by someone doing sign language in background. You never see them anymore. Why?

I think it would be best if our capitalist heroes brought about world government, world peace and the alleviation of global poverty. Why shouldnt world government be in their name? Global currency could be linked to S&P500 for example. It wouldnt have to mean the end of competition.

I wouldn't trust a global government as far as I can throw it.

Politicians are corrupt now. Look at Joe for an example. Just think if there was a global government.
