Contrary to what the retail industry has contrived to bilk the public into believing that the weekend after Thanksgiving is the “busiest” shopping day of the year (Black Friday), offering the lowest prices of the year, is nothing more than a gimmick invented by retailers to get rid of their end of the year stock….stock that is written off the books, so it’s literally left over garbage - write offs, returns, "reconditioned" items, "slightly damaged" items, discontinued items, junk that was found left over in warehouses....most of it placed into new boxes and sold as new, or as "damaged box", but "new" product.

In reality, the true busiest shopping day of the year is the weekend right before Christmas, but retailers don't count that for some reason.

The REAL shopping deals and lowest prices are found between the end of January and the middle of April. These are the REAL “end of the year deals”, with most discounts being an average of 70-90%, sometimes even more (I’ve paid $2.50 at JCP before, for a $75.00 designer shirt). Companies need to empty their warehouses of old stock ASAP, and replace it with new stock, otherwise they lose money.

Retailers are notorious for marking up products as much as 200% (or more) between August and November, so they can offer “deep discount” deals and mark everything in the store “50% off” or more and still make full retail plus some markup. You don’t get a deal or save money, you actually pay MORE with this stuff on “sale” than you would buying it before August.

What's better than making a huge profit off of marking stock up 75% in order to give customers a "HALF OFF" deal, and STILL make a killing! I mean, this stuff is already marked up at least 3-6 times over as it is, before the store even gets it into their warehouses.

I’ve worked retail from graduating High School until 2000 (a long time), and I've worked all different sectors of the retail industry….so I know this for a fact. This has also been told to me on several occasions by the retail employers I’ve had over the years.

If you know what it really costs to produce a product or service, then you can figure out what a reasonable price is for that product and look for that product at that price. People think I'm a magician, because I buy what I want at the price I will pay for it. I don't care what the item is. I'm not a master shopper by any means, as I've seen some savvy shoppers buy at prices better than what I get, but they are willing to do more work and research than I am, so they get better prices than I do.

Not that any of you really care about getting scammed, shafted, screwed over and lied to, as you believe anything that’s put in print or an advertisement, but the few out there that listen to reason may see what a crap shoot the retail industry really is.

…but just thought I’d let you know anyway.
I perfectly understand that. I originally aspired to be an industrial psychologist. I have a degree in finance and a minor in psychology. I changed my mind and decided to be a stockbroker /commodity broker and managed asset allocations for a trust company. I ran a hell of a bookie game thru college so being a broker I went from a bookie to a licensed bookie with a suit on.

Am I bragging ? Absolutely . I have done a lot to be proud of and though the markets are just a simple game played with numbers it was the field where I was born to mfer boogie. I know how stupid the consumer is. I just wanted to say hey cheap TV's , cheap. They aren't the Mona Lisa but I have a mom and sis by those names and ..oh well. I never liked the Mona Lisa either

    Thanks anyway my friend

I think that online shopping has changed some of that - perhaps not so much for Walmart, because they carry many rather obscure brands, but for many other retailers. For many items being sold by retailers, the manufacturer is also selling direct to the public, online. So, it's not difficult to check to see what the manufacturers original price was versus the retailer and whether the sale price is actually a bargain.

. I'm wanting to write a trumpet piece with a hard funky upbeat like the stones "hot stuff". I have a friend who is an amazing guitar man and very creative. In my mind I want his guitar piece to be in the key of e minor. He can take it from there. I think the contrast between my trumpet and his balls to the wall guitar style wil be unique. I can play the trumpet to songs like chicagos make me smile, 25 or 6 to 4 and a few gospel songs like the old rugged cross " I will cling to the old rugged cross exchange it some day for a crown". I can make you cry playing it. Not cause im that good . It's because I suck lol.

My father and I were at his studio in Memphis and he asked me to go with him to the music store. He surprised me with a brand new Bach Stradivarius. It has a thumb trigger for a true super c. It has a ribbon on it and I said " it's not my bday" he said "I know that's why I bought it" "btw who said you were getting anything for your b-day" lol
I miss him. We had an inside joke. He called me Jesus and I called him God lol. "He called his child Jesus because he liked the name . On a Christmas day when the new York times said God is dead" levon- Elton John
Sometimes it is the opposite. Same factory that builds the private brand but Walmart cuts out the middle guy.
I remember people comparing VHS VCRs without knowing they were all made in the same 2 factories and the paid more for the different palstic box.
What some people think are brand names like Panasonic, RCA, Emerson were just familiar names that were out of business. They purchase the name and have TVs made under them and people feel good buying from them because they have been around forever. No not really.

ONN is actually Durabrand which is just a buying company for Walmart so it depends what size TV you get and what year, where it is made. They do the warranty work at Element in South Carolina, so at least if you have a problem then it will not disappear for 20 weeks.

In addition onn is disposable. It would be nice in an RV or whatever. The sound sucks but a good surround fixes that. I want to put the 64" inch where you typically don't see a big one. I may hook it up and say "fo shizzle" and make it the go to tv.
