You DO realize that the swamp is a given, right? The swamp is "us," the seamless web of political and social interconnections from local dogcatcher, PTA board, and mayor on up, all overseen by the "old money" elite, as exemplified by Harvard and Yale.
No, this is not "conspiracy"; it is vested interest and dovetailing agendas. It is normal and natural, in every society and political order ever created. There is a reason that Bush and Kerry were both members of Skull and Bones; the elites, regardless of their political differences, have far more in common with each other than they do with the common herd.

Obsessed with the virus eh? So are many others. It comes from listening to sources like CNN. The sources that won't tell you the truth. Truths like these.
1) Children are far safer from Corona then they are from the flu and this was understood very early on.
2) Working age people as a group are more likely to die in a traffic accident vs COVID 19
3) Even if all deaths credited to COVID are people truly killed by COVID they won't raise the national death toll for 2020 even 10%. MAYBE 10% more people will die this year than usual ( and that includes all those fear and lockdown created deaths of dispair)
4) Social distancing etc was and remains unproven as it has been been forced on healthy people on a large scale
5) Neil Ferguson's sky is falling death estimate of 2.2 million in America was from a bad model that couldn't reproduce his results reliablly, but which world organizations and politicians who could benefit from doing so were quick to accept was downgraded to less than 10% of that number in EARLY April. a number much, much closer to the death count attributed to the virus
6) It was two weeks to flatten the curve. Not if we do this we can save lives. It's a communicable disease for God's sake.
7) The only politicians with either blood on their hands or saves to their credit ( despite what they all claim) are the dictator governors that sent Corona to the one place where it could kill in numbers. Nursing Homes. No way that made any sense at all.
8) With few megacity exceptions which were covered with hospital ships and other measures ( not that they were needed) hospitals were UNDERwhelmed to the point of potentially closing.

I actually think it may not be fixable. A decade from now, historians may mark tЯump's reign as a historical turning point both in (1) the concept of American federalism, and (2) American "clout" in the world.
First, notice the recent use of "regional compacts" if fighting the pandemic. Under tЯump, the federal government abrogated what many saw as an ongoing overarching responsibility. Remember tЯump's infamous "I don't take responsibility at all'? And many states went ahead and took him at his word. Under the relentless onslaught of groups like the Federalist Society, we may see a gradual eclipsing of "will" for centralized federal power.
And that may not be a bad thing. A return to a new "Articles of Confederation" with regional alliances, rather than just states, might be in the offing.
California is - what? - the fifth largest economy on the planet? Add in the other western blue states (carving out the "dirt road" MAGAt counties in the eastern parts of the states to go their own ways) and you have an economic powerhouse second to none.
Conversely, the Midwest and Bible Belt South could decide to go with their own Theocratic desires.
Texas, of course, would go its own way.
As would New York/New Jersey.
All loosely aligned with each other under a common (but weak) federal umbrella.
Why the hell not?
Second, why in the world would Europe, anyone in the Middle East, or Asia trust us again for anything? tЯump showed how easily the US could go off the rails. Better to "go it alone" so as to avoid unpleasant surprises.
The future may be a moribund "United States" with a near-bankrupt federal government and loose regional alliances of states pursuing their own agendas and even foreign policy.
Again, this cartoon is apropos:

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.“ - Benjamin Franklin.
“When people get used to preferential treatment equal treatment seems like discrimination.” - Thomas Sowell
Congrats you had to reach pretty far for a foriegn policy item to make Obama look good didn't you?
But Obama took his premature peace prize and made 8 straight years of war including frequent drone bombing of allied villages where he thought maybe a terrorist number 200 man was hanging out. Kids in those villages who lived grew up with a rather bad opinion of America ensuring terrorist creation for another generation.
In fact it's obvious to me that Trump's foriegn policy is a big part of why the swamp hates him so much, both the neo-libs and the neo-cons. He's no real entrenched Donkephan after all! He was the first president in a long time to:
1) Not start new wars ( even to try to win an election)
2) Bring troops home as they all promise
3) Not to mention bringing manufacturing back. Also promised and undelivered by Bushbama and other members of the "unholy two"
Turns out ALL of that is bad for the influence for sale business.
It's not an IQ thing. It's a tribal thing. Had we not all allowed ourselves to become so very polarized this year could have never happened. To even set up for the steal they had to take the polarization to a new level. But the polarization itself was on all of us. With the help of media and universiities they drove the polarization to such a point where they're tribe would hide from a .2 % death rate virus that pretty much leaves the young alone, support politicians who allowed their cities to live in fear and riots all summer long.
This was not about facts, logic or intelligence. It was about such tribal loyalty that enough people would vote for a demented old man whom they wouldn't leave alone with the children. Somehow they got these willy nilly mail to old addresses ballots approved and then did their vote dumps. I believe there are collaborators as Trump is almost a third party pres so he was able to decrease war and bring back manufacturing. Things Mainstream donkephants have promised and failed to deliver for years.
Cons are more vulnerabl;e to do the same than we.
If tribalism lives the country dies.
