Andrew is writing a story about allegations of war crimes against Australian Special Forces in Afghanistan. My gut instinct: The allegations are lawfare designed to target Australia and the Aussie military, who are famously disciplined.
I've seen this sort of lawfare against British and Americans.

It doesn't really matter what this war correspondent believes. The Australians have a very professional military, and an effective legal system. Australians do not share the cult of the military with their American cousins, and these allegations will be independently investigated and the appropriate actions taken. Those involved may be entirely innocent or they may be guilty of war crimes - but the outcome will not be effected by a journalist.
As an Aussie, I want to see them either completely exonerated or if guilty, punished to the full extent of the laws - military and civil. The honour of our military is at stake, and nobody, no matter his/her position or circumstances is above the law.
