Apparently there are allegations of many unlawful killings by Aussie Soldiers.

It is a shame. War crimes should be investigated and prosecuted, but with its hyper-political correctness Australia is slowly sapping the testosterone out of the nation.

Let's hope they merely provide fair trial to the accused.

An interesting dispatch from Michael Yon. He mentions the war crimes allegations against Australian Special Forces in Afghanistan. He thinks they are b.s.

Andrew is writing a story about allegations of war crimes against Australian Special Forces in Afghanistan. My gut instinct: The allegations are lawfare designed to target Australia and the Aussie military, who are famously disciplined.

I've seen this sort of lawfare against British and Americans.

    Take this instance against British:

I don't see how the guy can compare this to his experience in Iraq , when the Afghan incident clearly involves the deaths of quite a few civilians , and not soldiers .

That may be , but soldiers VS civilians is not soldiers vs soldiers .

It doesn't really matter what this war correspondent believes. The Australians have a very professional military, and an effective legal system. Australians do not share the cult of the military with their American cousins, and these allegations will be independently investigated and the appropriate actions taken. Those involved may be entirely innocent or they may be guilty of war crimes - but the outcome will not be effected by a journalist.

As an Aussie, I want to see them either completely exonerated or if guilty, punished to the full extent of the laws - military and civil. The honour of our military is at stake, and nobody, no matter his/her position or circumstances is above the law.

Yon wasn't trying to effect the outcome. He was commenting on the case.

I know that Peter - I didn't say affect the outcome - I wrote effect the outcome. Meaning the outcome will be the result of due process at law, not the opinion of any individual (no matter how highly regarded).
