Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.
~Alain de Benoist
If it comforts you to believe self-preservation is an instinct that is fine with me. It is also the right of every living thing to protect and preserve its life. Mysticism is not required.
Self-preservation is a right. I mentioned that above. It is axiomatic.
Because I exist I have the rights all living things have. It is axiomatic.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.
No worries. It is just that natural defense mechanism kicking in.
Discussions like this are hard because you are likely to offend someone even if you have no intent to do so. Quite often, when we challenge ideas, it is seen as a challenge to or an attack on the person who holds those ideas. Now, sometimes, it is. People get mean and nasty, but I am going to say most of the time, it is not. It is curiosity and a genuine desire to understand.

One must begin somewhere.
We begin with axioms. Everything that lives has individual rights to life, liberty, property, and self-governance. Everything that lives behaves as if it has those rights, some to a lesser degree, some to a greater degree.

To understand my simple axiom you need to evaluate your own.
All life acts as if it has the rights to life, liberty, property, and self-governance. I merely make it a foundational axiom. You are free to accept it or reject it as you wish. My axiom requires no gods. Your beliefs do.
