The past 4 years has been a dry run from the republican leadership to identify the weak points in our democratic institutions and practices and figure out how to topple them in the coming years. The activities and talking points that this Administration and the republican leadership have adopted and proactively used is a blueprint for taking away the rights of the citizen. It's a very familiar playbook that many authoritarian countries have used. It's unfortunate that they've been able to recruit so many Americans to go along with this plan. They know not what they do.........

Trump is an incompetent midiot, who surrounds himself with more incompetent idiots. What is terrifying to me is what the future holds: an intelligent and competent Totalitarian Republican (or, to be fair, Democrat*) who games the system, using what has been learned from the last four years.
*Given the current demographics of the country, not nearly as likely as a Republican, but still possible.

Nations follow certain historical rules/guidelines. And if you look at the broad sweep of history, you will see that nation-states and democracy are anomalies. We've had a good run as a Democratic Republic and (since the end of WWII) as a world-girdling empire. We are nearing the time of gradual degradation, where our power will be propped up by authoritarian, and then totalitarian rule. And then the collapse.

It will be a slow collapse, a bureaucratic collapse, with bits and pieces gradually taken over by what are known as countervailing power centers. In a world where nationalism and nation-states are increasingly viewed with suspicion by insurgent ethnic and cultural sub-groups, those power centers will be, largely, corporations. I predict that our legacy will be a new feudalism, with corporations running things.

The total incompetence of Trump's legal team is only part of the reason for Trump's inability to pull off a coup by throwing out enough ballots, though. Yes, it's hard to imagine the administration that brought us the Four Seasons Total Landscaping news conference being able to pull off something so complicated. But the larger reason his coup is failing is that our democratic institutions are withstanding his onslaught.

How do you figure? Trump didn't institute the act of mailing ballots to old addresses, nor did republican poll officials re-write the rules on election night. And all of those "glitches", "errors" and mishaps all seem to have gone for Biden and aginst Trump. Happy coincidence????
I mean it's easy to say "We didn't cheat Orange Man Bad cheated" But those of saying that Biden's team cheated have evidence and steps of logic to defend our position which makes our position far more believable than this.

I also thought that everyone would clearly be able to see through the lies and manipulations but we cannot ignore the fact that over 70mil people actually bought into what cannot be proven with facts. But here we are witnessing it first hand.

This complete fealty by so many will be studied by psychologists and others for many years. It's an incredible anomaly that I thought most civilized countries would have avoided at all costs from what we know and have learned tragically from WWI.

Three decades of incessant propaganda from Limbaugh and his copycats was now strengthened by entities such as Fox, where every single second was right wing propaganda.

I know people who have parents who were literally brainwashed by Fox. I know instances where equipment failures or program changes, whatever, meant that somebody's mom or dad could not get their daily "fix" of Fox. The result? Within a week, they began to return to normal thinking. It's actually terrifying what daily repetition of an idea can accomplish.

The long and short of it is that we have been through three decades of sustained information warfare from the right. There have been a lot of casualties. I, myself was one of them, and it was only through happenstance that I was able to "wake up" and perceive reality.
