New Conservative Coalition Is a Foundational Shift

Another in a series about the political change we're going through, one that will be good for Republicans--Democrats don't get it.

New Conservative Coalition Is a Foundational Shift

Democrats are scrambling to explain away the inroads Republicans have made with minorities, as evidenced in the November election results. Instead of listening to the concerns of the Black and Hispanic voters who voted for President Trump — after years of being assured that Trump is one of the “most racist presidents” in history — Democrats are instead blaming them.

“Some Democrats argue that the support for Mr. Trump is an example of machismo culture, venerating traditional gender roles and a kind of hyper-masculinity,” the New York Times reported. But Axios admitted, “The media (and many Democrats) are fairly clueless about the needs, wants and trends of Hispanic voters. Top Latinos warned about overlooking and misreading the fastest-growing population in America — but most didn’t listen.”

The same is true of Black voters...

Here’s what they’re missing: A new coalition is taking shape. It’s multiethnic, multiracial — and it’s conservative. It rejects the regimentation of identity politics, and even rejects the attendant language.... It’s working class and it’s growing.

The new coalition rejects the premise of the New York Times’ “1619 Project,” the grand critique of America, which says the U.S. is fundamentally racist and a real-life dystopia. They know better. It’s the country they or their parents or their grandparents came to, and in many cases, fled to. The America they experience is one of opportunity and freedom.

...They also reject any Green New Deal....

...More than anything, the new coalition has come together over jobs....

...For years, the left has divided America along the lines of race and gender, and attempted bring together these camps into a working-class, multiethnic coalition. They have succeeded.

I think it's wrong to say that there was any sort of foundational shift in this election. Trump got roughly the same share of the Black vote as Bush in 2004 (the last time a Republican won the popular vote), but ran ten points worse than Bush among Hispanics and Asians. Democrats won significant majorities among all three groups. Republicans continue to be largely the party of white voters.

Democrats will shift focus from the working class family values minorities to the criminal street thugs and welfare addicted. They never liked the fact that so many Hispanics have a work ethic and family values. That is why they push for Open Borders to drown them out with waves of illiterate handout voters and third world Socialists.

It's not just race though but a shift in liberal values that most people see little value in. Things like cancel culture and green new deal.

No one said there was. The election results are symptomatic of a gradual shift over the last decade. That Trump won an even larger share of the black and Hispanic vote in his reelection campaign after 4 years of being portrayed as an anti-immigrant racist suggests something is up. We will have to wait for more accurate numbers but, as it stands, Trump's support among black men was again in the double digits and perhaps as high as 18%. White women, Asians, Hispanics and blacks all shifted toward Trump in 2020. It certainly wasn't enough to win him the Presidency but it is enough to raise eyebrows among smarter Democrats.

As we discussed in the past, they don't get it and that's a good thing. Trump had increased support across virtually every demographic except white men. Even his share of the black female vote almost doubled!

I would say that it's not new inroads but more highlighting of minority Republicans because the Republicans want a share of identity politics. They are trying to show that are shifting their agenda towards the working stiff: Ronald Reagan tried that and it backfired horribly. Bear in mind that the vast majority of minorities do not forget history.

No, it suggests nothing. MOST immigrant populations upon arriving think Republican. But once they've been around a while to experience the Republican agenda, they go the other way in a big hurry. That's exactly what the black population did at the turn of the 20th century.

Better they remain clueless while it's openly discussed under their noses.

That minority support was nowhere to be seen in the election, so I don't how the claim can be made.
