You are right in that a biblical prophet did not simply foretold the future. However you incorrect when you say they were "just men of God". They were believed to be chosen by God and divinely inspired to speak for God to other people.

The book of Revelations is something which most people, no matter how knowledgeable they may be, can not fully understand.

I meant no disrespect with the word "just". I simply meant that prophesying future events was not their usual mission.

I mean no offense when I say this, but I always feel it incumbent upon me to correct your very common mistake. It is the book of Revelation, not Revelations.

Actually, the literal translation of the original Greek title is "Apocalypse of John".

I did not view your "just men" comment as being disrespectful. I viewed it as you were not well informed as to who the prophets were.
