The dangerous evangelical right pushing for armaggeddon

Frank Schaeffer, former Evangelist and son of the famous Evangelical theologian and preacher Francis Schaeffer, explains how the American Evangelical right are leading the world to catastrophe, in the name of "Biblical Prophecy" and the "Second Coming" of Jesus.

I am not going to watch it. In order to believe that arnaggeddon is right around the corner, you would have to believe that satan is bound and has no influence in this world. Look around.

In Revelation HE tells when this is going to happen.

Unless some individual or group that was somehow in a position to take actions that might conceivably speed up the so-called "Second Coming" followed through. Yes, it's fiction, but there was an excellent t.v. miniseries a few years ago called 'Dig' wherein a conspiracy that included both foreign and U.S. citizens, including officers of the State Department, planned to destroy the Dome of the Rock in order to bring about what they considered to be Biblical prophecies. While their motives were different, an underground radical Jewish group came close to destroying that mosque and several others in 1984.

It isn't the destruction of the Dome that is the cause or a sign. It is the rebuilding of the Temple that's is part of it. that would bring an a nuclear war by the Muslims.

In every generation since Jesus' time, some were convinced that they were living in "the end times". Long before the Y2K scare, there was the Y1K scare, which centered on the conviction of many that the world was about to end. In America in the 1840s, the Millerite cult arose, predicting that the end times were near; when it turned out that they were not, that group split off to become a number of Adventist denominations, one of which merged with the Seventh Day Baptists to become the Seventh Day Adventists. And of course, as previously mentioned, there was the late '70s 'Late, Great Planet Earth' industry. People like to think that they're in the center of history, just as they used to like to think that the Earth was the center of the universe.

So the Bible says when this is going to happen, after trib, after His wrath, after the 1000 year reign and all of you are saying it's going to happen before trib. Humm I think I will stick with the Bible and not your thinking or your fake pastors.

Rather than falling for hucksters like Tim LaHaye and the whole "left behind" nonsense, you might consider reading up on the traditional Christian interpretation of the prophetic passages in Daniel, Revelations, etc. Read 'An Eschatology of Victory' by J. Marcellus Kik. Or just give some consideration to some of the material accessible on the Internet.

I stick with the Bible only. Left behind is false. Christians will go threw trib. I don't need any other book or movie to tell me what HE says.

Scripture doesn't change. I think sermons are just to remind us.

...but those preachers keep getting it wrong.
They should leave out the current events and just stick to scripture.

They keep insisting the end days are here and now and they never are.

That is what I meant by recycling their sermons for 67 and 68.

Pretty much all "end days " sermons are the same except when they insert current events into them.

That is what makes them wrong.
