My mom had a grandfather clock I really liked, I told her right out, when she died I wanted her to leave me that clock in her will.

Well, we laughed about it and, she said, "sure " my 2 sisters were there and, heard all of this.

Mom died and, my older sister called a couple of weeks later and told me they were all at mom's house, "dispersing " her things.

My younger sister took the living room furniture and a TV, my niece took the almost new dining room set, my older sister took a bedroom set. All of this was done without me, without even asking me if I wanted anything, without giving me enough notice, so I could be there.

I don't know where the clock is, my sister said she doesn't know either.

Cotton, just ask your mom, right out, if you can have the rug, since it doesn't look like she uses it.

Had the same kind of thing happen when my mom died. Just found out 5 years later my oldest daughter has a nativity set of my grandparents had from Germany in the 40's. It was to be mine by my mothers wishes.700 miles apart my sister and brother cleaned out most but thats ok. I got her paintings and diaries that taught me a lot.

I just did. She's "thinking" about it lol

I'll give her till tomorrow. If by then I haven't heard back I will simply buy one myself.

Then, when she does call and says "sure you can have it"

    I will then say

"Dang, you seemed like you were having mixed feelings so I bought one myself just as nice"

Then she will feel bad for not saying yes when I asked the first time"

I dont mean that in an ugly manner.

I just do not want to add positive reinforcement to indecision. If I do that it only creates "thinking about it " as the correct answer.

If I accept that answer too many times, I'll get to

To be fair. She never uses that end of the house anyway. Shes not going to live forever at which time she will not need it anyway.

She doesnt even use it now and shes alive.

    Was that in poor taste?
