the activist smarmy lawyers keep cancelling the court dates and rescheduling them in the future.>sometimes not even letting the landlord, complainant know...that's wasted time. What they hope for is that the complainant gets tired of the runaround and says 'forget it'. That's what they want...to frustrate you so much you don't bother.
Don't give up or give in. Keep pursuing it.
As anyone who has ever owned rental property knows 100% of the rent does not go to the landlord. There are mortgage payments, property taxes and maintenance fees that continue to come due regardless if you are collecting rent or not. So, If you don't pay me I can't pay my creditors who will eventually foreclose on me or take the property for back taxes. What happens to you then? Do you think the banks or the state will let you live on the property without paying them as well. Somewhere along the line you will be removed from the house or apartment. It doesn't matter if you only own one or one thousand units, unless you can collect your rent you will lose your property. Why does everyone think the landlord has some obligation to house you when you aren't paying for it?
