Yes, he posted a lot of being lonely later on and cooking for himself. I sent him my phone number to talk but that never happened, it was really toward the end I think. I think things went bad for him all of the sudden and I really feel bad about that. I even offered to visit him, he wasn't more than a day's drive from me.

Jim was at an age where he was not going to change his mind about anything no matter what I said so I usually ignored him. His last couple months of comments here were very sad. Hard not to feel for him.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

You weren't alone. A few people did IIRC. I don't think he was interested in continuing. His wife's death made him despondent.

I think the older you get the less willing your average person is to change. Of course that doesn't apply to everyone.

I don't disagree but that's not been my experience.

Of course I'm not that old.

I change every day. Doesn't everyone?
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

I do have to wonder though. How many people here really have changed their minds about various things but would never admit it.

    I'd be the first.

Outside of the heckling and butthurt reactions I'm never not in a position where I'm admitting it. I wish more people had that kind of confidence but whatever.

Nature of existence but with Jim I think you're right, there was no doubt he was set in his way and wasn't moving from it.

If I ever get to that point then I'm ready to die too and I don't mean that out of disrespect, at all.

    Later Jim.
