Post Is the Pandemic the End of the Buffet?

The new world might not have it, either, if we all sit down and be honest. Science is preoccupied enough right now, and taking academics away from researching world- saving vaccines to instead develop a cough guard big enough and robust enough to stop a toddler from infecting a communal bowl of chipsticks seems like a waste of money and time. Buffets are a good thing socially (they help bring people together!) but a bad thing pandemically (they let people repeatedly dip the same crisp into a shared pot of hummus!) and by that respect, the UN should really look into making them an international crime. It’s hard to know what the world will ever look like post-Covid, but right now it doesn’t feel like it involves a lot of sausage roll sharing platters.

    Probably is.

By the way, "chipsticks" (I had to look it up) is what we would call shoestring potatoes.

I think the same thing that happened after the Spanish Flu happened... The sudden rush back to the economy will lead to a good 10 year glut that will vanish in the span of a week. We’ve been here before.

Yeah, I asked the same question back in June!!

As a (now ex) buffet eater, this makes me sad. I love Asian buffets. Even if they were still to stay open, I wouldn't go.

I haven't even been to a drive thru since March, and I won't, until they find a REAL cure for COVID (fake or not).

I've been dying for a Pizza Hut pizza all freeking year long!! I want to go to my fav TexMex place to get my favorite nachos!!
But I won't. I'm on the list of people who are supposedly highly susceptible. Real or fake, I don't want to take the chance.

I've been eating from home pretty much all year, and I'm SOOOOOOOOO sick of it!!!!

There is zero reason to end them or to end any other thing humans normally did. This "pandemic" is nothing more than a gigantic scam. Absolutely mind-blowing how many people have fallen for it.

Especially the 1.84 million who fell so hard they assumed room temperature and had to be buried or cremated. What suckers.

I forget who posted the video that showed the spray pattern of people talking here on tPF, but it really ruined dinner time conversations for me. I went out for dinner with friends but couldn't help but look to see what was spraying as they talked. Dude, I was going to eat that!
