All little boys already know that penises exist, and I suspect that most little girls do, as well. (When I visited Denmark for the first time, in 1964, I was surprised, to say the least, at the magazines featuring full frontal nudity of both sexes in full view on the public newsstands.) No, a 4-8 year old shouldn't necessarily have to know or be taught about "the birds and the bees", but that isn't what this is about, there being a penis involved notwithstanding.

The automatic equation of certain body parts, let alone nudity, while not being an exclusively American mindset, is not one shared by most Scandinavians.

It's Europe. We don't censor sex as much as in USA. At least we did not. Now, the conservative American mindset is infecting Europe thanks to Hollywood.
