America - What I was taught in school

I suppose I could consider myself lucky in the respect that when I was in middle school and high school in the 70's, I was in the most "progressive" schools in my state at the time. New courses were added to these schools curriculum - architecture, Russian history, astronomy, Sociology, and Political Science.

When it came to the teachings of who, what, when, why, and where America is and was, all teachers in this field taught the same thing:

    Political Science - America/American Politics

    America isn't a color. America isn't a religion. America isn't a specific thing.

America is a philosophy. America is an ideal. America is a dream of freedom.

People come to America to get away from evil rulers, violent societies, and the restrictions of thought, expression, and speech. Americans are people willing to work for the freedom this country values, no matter where they are from. Americans can be any color, any race, any religion, any sex, any size, any shape, that accept and live by American beliefs and values. Americans practice the standards of acceptance, understanding, cohesion, brotherhood, sisterhood, and compassion. Americans work together for the sake and benefit of other Americans. Americans strive to be better, more civilized, more adept, smarter, more intelligent, and better equipped for helping those in need, understanding those that need help, and assisting those who don't have anyone else.

Our leaders are voted into office to work as our guardians, our security guards, our watch dogs. They are put in place to see to it that we are kept safe, we are taken care of, we are treated equal, and we are guaranteed our basic privileges of life in this country. We the people must keep a diligent eye on our leaders to make sure they serve the nation as a whole and represent us all, no matter of party affiliation or viewpoint. All political parties must work together to make this nation the ideal, philosophy, and dream that we know we can be.
If our leaders fail the people, then they have failed the nation as a whole, and we as a nation, are doomed.

People that come to America that segregate themselves, oppose American values, try to strip away our freedoms and free speech are here for nefarious reasons and should be ostracized from society and the country as a whole. They are here to disrupt us, remove our way of life, spit on our values, and turn us against one another. These people need to be dealt with as harshly as law allows, as to not interfere with our freedoms and American values.

There will always be those who are jealous of us, hate us, and find us a hindrance to their private agendas. We, as Americans, must be vigilant, wary, insightful, active, diligent,
and go about our daily lives with "eyes wide open" in order to see what goes on in our nation that could be a hazard or threat to our values and way of life. We must protect each other at all times. We must be vigilant at all times. We must ban together at brothers and sisters in order to fight off attacking forces and corrupt entities that only look to undermine, corrupt, and disrupt our nation, our lives, and our values.

Then, and only then, are we all truly free.

Look where we've ended up in that short period of time.

    What could go wrong?
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

It's philosophy, ideal, dream, myth that we need to preserve from the left tearing down.
Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler
