She posed no imminent threat. she wasn't even in the same room.

I can guarantee you that you had shot someone under the same circumstances at your home, you would be in jail right now. I am on a lunch break right now. I have been teaching a defensive pistol class all morning and I actually used this shooting as an example of what NOT to do.

The cop needs to be charged and sent to prison for the rest of his life.

It's safe to assume the police officer felt she was a threat for whatever reason since he fired his weapon.
That being said, we won't know everything until the police investigation has been concluded. Until then I'll give the police officer the benefit of the doubt.

I believe that in many departments, if an officer shoots anybody it is a normal practices to place them on administrative leave; whether or not the officer's police powers have been suspended I imagine would depend on the jurisdiction.
