The New York Jets hired San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to be their new head coach, making him the first Muslim to run an NFL sideline, the team announced Thursday night.
"We've reached an agreement in principle with Robert Saleh to become our head coach," the Jets said in a statement.

That is why Coach Ditka recently said they need to leave politics off the playing field and go back to promoting the best players and coaches for the job.

Being reported that Saleh is bringing along Mike LeFleur as his new Offensive Coordinator. Pretty good stock there.
(Mike LeFleur is the brother of Matt LeFleur, head coach of the Green Bay Packers.)

Why is this news if not for the Muslim first hire angle?
This time of year the teams not in the playoffs start a hiring process and so what?

The firing and hiring of coaches across all collegiate and pro sports is news for that audience. The coaches religion is irrelevant.
