I heard an interesting observation on one of today's Sunday morning opinion shows:
If a person can be impeached and/or convicted after he has already left office--in Donald Trump's case, he has already been impeached; but not yet convicted--when he is merely a private citizen, what is to prevent our impeaching and convicting a person who is merely running for office (and also, therefore, just a private citizen)?
The latter does sound absurd.
But it is really no more absurd than the former.
